About Us

History of Sanctified Mount Zion Church

Sanctified Mount Zion Church of Nigeria is an independent Pentecostal movement, fully registered with the Federal Republic of Nigeria and licensed in the United States of America. The Church was inaugurated on May 14, 1984, by Bishop Evans Thompson Etukidem, the Founding President.

From its humble beginnings at Ikot Eka Edem, Calabar, the church has grown into a vibrant and Spirit-filled movement with over 80 Assemblies across Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Lagos State, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as well as internationally in Cameroon and Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

The International Headquarters is located at No. 4 Iyata Street, Ikot Eka Edem, Calabar, and the Church is currently led by Pastor Bassey Evans Etukidem, the President.

To liberate mankind from the bondage of the devil and sanctify them to fulfill their God-given destiny.

Tenets of Sanctified Mount Zion Church

  1. The Divine inspiration and authority of the Holy Scripture.
  2. The Trinity of Three Persons in one Godhead.
  3. The absolute moral corruption of human nature.
  4. The virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, triumphant resurrection, ascension and abiding intercession of our Lord Jesus Christ: His second coming to reign upon earth.
  5. Justification and Sanctification of the believer through the redemptive work of Christ.
  6. The Sacrament of Baptism of immersion and of the Lord’s Supper.
  7. Baptism of the Holy Ghost for the signs following Believers.
  8. The nine gifts of the Holy Ghost for the spiritual and physical benefits of the Church, which is the Body of Christ.
  9. Church government by Bishops, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, Elders and Deacons.
  10. Possibility of falling from Grace.
  11. The obligatory nature of Tithes and offerings.
  12. The absolute dependence on the power of God, through the merit of the atonement of Jesus Christ, for physical healing in time of sickness.
  13. Trusting God to provide for all financial and temporal needs without going into debt to raise a loan, not receiving interest for your money.
